A devastating accident in Ogden Canyon has left a Utah father and his 16-year-old daughter dead after their pickup truck was struck by a flying bulldozer. Richard Hendrickson, CEO of Lifetime Products, was driving with his family when a tow truck lost control of the mini bulldozer it was hauling and launched it onto the Hendrickson’s vehicle. This horrifying crash has left the surviving family members grappling with the immense pain of losing their loved ones.
The Terrifying Incident
On July 6th, Richard Hendrickson, 57, was driving his family up a narrow two-lane road in Ogden Canyon, Utah. Around 12:49 p.m., a tow truck hauling heavy equipment attempted to make a turn. Unfortunately, a “bulldozer broke free” from the tow truck while negotiating a curve and collided with Hendrickson’s GMC pickup, which was traveling in the opposite direction. Tragically, Richard and his 16-year-old daughter Sally lost their lives in the accident. Richard’s wife Julie and their two other children suffered minor injuries and are receiving treatment in the hospital.

Seeking Change for Safety
In the wake of this tragedy, a petition has been initiated to restrict larger vehicles from using the narrow two-lane passageway through Ogden Canyon. This scenic route is flanked by the Ogden River on one side and steep mountain cliffs on the other. The petition aims to enforce regulations on the types of vehicles permitted on Highway 39, the road that passes through the heart of the canyon. By limiting the particular categories of vehicles allowed on this constrained roadway, the petition seeks to ensure the safety of all who rely on it. Currently, over 3,300 signatures have been collected, with a goal of reaching 5,000.
