Star of ‘American Pickers’ Faces Heartbreaking Loss Days After Dream Wedding

Only days after her dream wedding to Jeremy Scheuch, American Pickers’ star Danielle Colby faced a heartbreaking loss when she had to say goodbye to the real-life Santa Claus who sprinkled some “unexplainable magic” into her life.

Fans of American Pickers were thrilled to see Danielle Colby sharing glimpses of her dream wedding to Jeremy Scheuch on February 15, 2024.

In a enchanting open-air ceremony held in Puerto Rico, the 49-year-old star donned a stunning powdery blue gown that trailed gracefully behind her. Surrounded by loving family and friends, Colby exchanged vows with Jeremy Scheuch, a talented professional photographer. The ceremony perfectly showcased the couple’s unique style and shared love for creativity.

Colby took to Facebook on February 17 to share a breathtaking photo of her and Scheuch standing at the altar against the backdrop of the bright blue sky. Expressing her happiness, she wrote, “In this moment I was the happiest I have ever been. Standing on the edge of a mountain with my best friend, overlooking the vast ocean, surrounded by loving family and friends.”

However, there was one notable absence at the wedding – Jeremy’s dad, affectionately known as “Papa John”. He, along with the rest of Jeremy’s family, had to stay behind to support his father who was fighting cancer. Colby acknowledged this in her post, saying, “Our hearts are full, however… we were deeply missing Jeremy’s family. Their presence was a hole in our hearts, but we felt their spirit with us.”

Just days after their wedding, Colby shared another photo on social media with the caption, “Hold on Papa John, we are on our way.” The newlyweds traveled from Puerto Rico to Kansas City, where Jeremy’s dad was losing his battle with cancer.

Tragically, on February 19, John, who had been a beloved Santa Claus for over 40 years, passed away at the age of 70.

Colby and her family were now faced with the complex emotions of grief alongside the recent happiness of their wedding. Despite the pain, Colby remained open and candid with her fans, sharing how the loss had deeply affected their family dynamic and brought both tears and cherished memories to the forefront.

In a heartfelt tribute post, Colby wrote on Facebook, “Papa John… You spent your life advocating and creating miracles for the most vulnerable children in your community. You always cared so much and loved so hard.”

She continued, “It was difficult to move forward with this wedding without you there. So many times we cried, because little things would remind us of you. Little magical moments that we had never experienced before, but suddenly the entire week of our wedding was filled with the most unexplainable magic in our surroundings.”

Colby felt her father-in-law’s presence strongly, even though he was thousands of miles away. She wrote, “Although you’re no longer physically here, I feel you everywhere. Absolutely everywhere.”

The American Pickers community rallied around Colby and her new husband, showering them with heartfelt condolences and support. Many fans shared their messages of love and praised the everlasting impact of “Papa John”. It was a testament to the deep connection and love felt within the show’s fanbase.
