Are you tired of buying bananas, only to find them rotten and black within a few days? We’ve got the perfect solution for you! With this method, you can now preserve bananas for up to two years without worrying about spoilage.
Bananas are not only delicious but also packed with essential nutrients. Whether you enjoy them in smoothies, desserts, or plain, their short shelf life can be quite frustrating. But fret not, because we have a simple yet effective method to extend their freshness significantly.
To start, gather the desired quantity of bananas and give them a gentle scrub using a toothbrush and a bit of baking soda. Rinse them thoroughly under running water and pat them dry with paper towels.
Next, remove both ends of the bananas without peeling them. Then, slice them into pieces that are about two fingers thick. Now, it’s time to gather some glass jars with a capacity of around 700 ml.
Layer the ingredients in the jars as follows: place a bay leaf at the bottom, followed by two cloves of garlic (or two cloves), two slices of chili pepper, a teaspoon each of coriander seeds and dill seeds, and a mix of white, black, green, pink pepper, and allspice.
Add the banana pieces (around a dozen per jar) and a few more slices of chili pepper. Then, sprinkle a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon and a half of salt, a teaspoon of 70% vinegar, and some hot water into each jar.
Once all the ingredients are in place, it’s time to sterilize the jars. Place them in a pan of hot water with a cloth underneath to prevent breakage. Heat and sterilize the jars, with their lids loosely placed on top, for approximately ten minutes.
After sterilization, carefully dry the jars and seal them tightly to prevent air from entering. Store the jars in a cool place, and voila! Your bananas will stay fresh for up to two years.
No more wasting bananas or being disappointed by their short shelf life. With this easy method, you can enjoy long-lasting bananas and have them at your disposal whenever you need them. So go ahead and savor the amazing benefits of bananas without the worry of spoilage.
