Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Camilla, at the age of 77, has been diagnosed with a chest infection. As a result, she has had to cancel her commitments for Thursday, including an important appearance at the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey. However, the Duchess of Gloucester will attend the event on her behalf.
In addition, Queen Camilla will miss a reception at Buckingham Palace that was scheduled for Thursday evening. To ensure that the event goes on, King Charles will be hosting it exclusively.
Despite her recent diagnosis, Queen Camilla plans to rest at home and hopes to participate in key events over the weekend. This includes the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday at the Royal Albert Hall and the Cenotaph service in Whitehall on Sunday.
The Palace has stated that her condition appears to be minor, possibly related to the extensive travel she and King Charles have recently undertaken to countries like Australia, Samoa, and India. UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has expressed his well wishes for her speedy recovery.
Royal fans have been sending prayers and positive thoughts for Queen Camilla’s quick healing. One supporter shared, “I pray she has a speedy recovery.” However, there have been some questions raised about the couple’s ability to fulfill their responsibilities. One individual commented, “Charles and her need to step down. Their health issues prevent them from doing their duties.”
Another remarked, “She’s elderly. I’d say the trip wore her out, probably Charles too.” Despite these challenges, Queen Camilla has remained dedicated to her duties. She recently completed work on a documentary about domestic violence awareness, which is scheduled to air next week.
Meanwhile, King Charles, who paused his cancer treatment during their overseas tour, is now expected to resume his treatment schedule as they have returned to the UK.
