Mom Keeps Hilarious Vanity Plate After DMV Demands Surrender

A mother of four in New Hampshire recently faced a surprising dilemma when the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) demanded that she surrender her vanity license plates. Wendy Auger had been using these plates for 15 years as a playful reminder for her sons to use the restroom before getting into the car. However, the DMV perceived the plates as referencing “sexual or excretory acts or functions.”

Auger, a paralegal from Rochester, New Hampshire, expressed her disappointment, stating, “It would just stink if I don’t have it anymore.” She often receives compliments on her hilarious plates, which read “PB4WEGO” – a clever way to remind her children to “pee before we go.” Auger argues that this is a common parenting expression, asking, “Who has a mom or dad or parental figure who hasn’t said that to kids before leaving the house?”

Despite not being a political activist, Auger believes that the DMV’s decision is unwarranted and unnecessary, as her plates are non-offensive and a part of her family’s identity. The DMV’s recall letter demanded that Auger turn in her plates within 10 days, with the option to select a new customized plate at no additional cost. Auger took to social media, sharing the recall letter on Facebook, and her post quickly went viral.

Supportive comments flooded in, with one netizen noting, “Such a ridiculous situation… Not only is it funny and cute, it’s a really good reminder!” Another added, “What’s going on?! You’ve had that plate FOREVER.” Some even offered amusing alternative plate ideas, such as “Pee or Pay.” Auger appreciated the encouragement to file a petition against the recall and jokingly suggested that her next plate could say “dmv sux.”

The post eventually caught the attention of New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, who personally contacted Auger to inform her that he had overturned the ruling. Sununu reassured her, saying, “Sorry for that little bureaucratic hold up up there… but obviously common sense prevailed.” Auger was delighted to share her victory on Facebook, proudly proclaiming, “This Sassy Momma Has Her Plates!!!”
