FedEx Driver Fights Back: Self-Defense Saves the Day

FedEx Driver Shot And Robbed, Returns Fire With His Own Weapon — Suspect Dead

A routine delivery turned into a life-or-death situation for a brave FedEx driver in Philadelphia. A 32-year-old driver was shot and robbed while making a residential delivery in the city’s Lawndale neighborhood. However, this quick-thinking driver’s preparedness and ability to defend himself turned the tables on the attacker.

As the driver finished dropping off a package at a home, an armed gunman approached him. The criminal stole items from the FedEx truck, took the driver’s wallet and keys, and then unexpectedly opened fire, shooting the driver in the abdomen. Little did the robber know, the FedEx driver was armed too and ready to protect himself.

In a stunning act of resilience, the injured driver fought back, returning fire and hitting the suspect multiple times. Despite his injuries, the driver managed to drive himself away from the scene, while the injured robber fled with stolen goods.

The FedEx driver sought help in a nearby parking lot where he reported the incident to the police. Authorities quickly arrived at the scene and launched a search for the perpetrator. Minutes later, they found a 27-year-old suspect in critical condition on Creston Street, suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest, back, and torso. Investigators discovered a vehicle nearby containing some of the stolen items, blood, and a shell casing, further confirming the fierce shootout that had taken place.

After being transported to the hospital, the suspect, identified as Jevan Lundy, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Fortunately, the FedEx driver survived and was reported in stable condition at the Einstein Medical Center.

Authorities later confirmed that the driver was licensed to carry a weapon and appeared to have acted in self-defense. According to Acting Police Commissioner Christine Coulter, the driver was shot first, prompting him to fire back in order to protect himself.

As the investigation unfolded, a second person of interest was found to have been with the suspect during the incident. It was suspected that this individual had driven the robber away from the scene. FedEx fully cooperated with the police, refraining from divulging details about their internal policies regarding employee firearms.

This incident serves as a reminder that self-defense can sometimes be necessary, even in the most unexpected circumstances. The FedEx driver’s quick actions and preparedness potentially saved his own life. Had he not been able to defend himself, the outcome could have been far worse.
