We’ve all heard stories of people standing up to big developers, but this Australian family took it to a whole new level. They defied all offers and refused to sell their property, even as developers built an entire suburb around it.
The owners of the picturesque Windsor Castle-style mansion have a special connection to their home that cannot be quantified. With a 650-foot driveway and lush green gardens, the Australian property offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Blue Mountains.
Developers have been desperate to acquire the land on which the property sits. They have made numerous lucrative offers, but to no avail. This family remains unwavering in their decision to stay put.
In 2012, most of the neighboring blocks of land were sold off, and experts estimate that the property would have been valued at around $4.75 million back then. However, fast forward 10 years, and the value of the home has skyrocketed to a staggering $50 million!
“The fact that most people sold out years and years ago, these guys have held on. All credit to them,” said Taylor Bredin, a real estate agent.
The property is now surrounded on all sides by neighboring homes, leaving the family happily situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. Mom Diane Zammit, 50, reminisces about what the neighborhood used to be like: “Every home was unique, and there was so much space – but not anymore. It’s just not the same.”
Turning down the possibility of $50 million takes incredible resolve. What do you think about this family’s decision? Share your thoughts in the comments below! And don’t forget to share this article on Facebook so that more people can read this inspiring story!
