As Donald Trump celebrated his election victory with Elon Musk, not all members of Musk’s family shared the same enthusiasm. Vivian Wilson, Musk’s daughter, revealed that she has no plans to be in the US for Trump’s second term.
In a post on Threads, Vivian shared, “I don’t see my future being in the United States.” This sentiment mirrors the declarations of other celebrities such as Cher, Sharon Stone, Barbra Streisand, and Whoopi Goldberg, who had previously announced their intention to leave the US if Trump were to win the presidency again. Now that he has won, it remains to be seen whether these celebrities will follow through with their words.
However, one person who is determined to take action is Elon Musk’s daughter, Vivian Wilson. The 20-year-old, who legally changed her name and gender identity in 2022, plans to leave the country after Trump’s victory.
“I’ve had this thought for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. I don’t see my future being in the United States. Even if he is only in office for 4 years, and even if the anti-trans regulations somehow don’t materialize, the people who voted for him aren’t going anywhere anytime soon,” Vivian expressed on Threads.
Two years ago, Vivian, previously known as Xavier Musk, gained attention when she publicly distanced herself from her father, Elon Musk. She made it clear that she no longer wished to live with or be connected to her biological father in any way, and she even changed her surname to her mother’s as part of her effort to separate herself from her influential father.
Elon Musk, who has twelve children, has been open about his discomfort with his daughter’s transition and acknowledges the strained relationship between them.
In a candid interview in July, Musk made controversial remarks stating that his “son” was now “dead.” He explained, “It happened with one of my older boys, where I was essentially deceived into signing documents for one of them.” Musk described the transition taking place during the pandemic as a time filled with confusion and misinformation. He admitted to initially being unaware of the situation and fearing that his child might resort to suicide if the transition didn’t happen.
Elon Musk, a vocal supporter of Trump, attributes his child’s decision to what he refers to as the “woke mind virus.” He believes this influence played a role in his son’s metaphorical “death.”
This family discord reflects a larger societal divide in the United States, which is exacerbated by the current political tensions.
As Vivian strives to establish her own path separate from her father’s shadow, Elon Musk remains steadfast in his controversial views on gender identity, continuing to engage in an ongoing dialogue about their relationship. With Trump’s return to the White House, this polarization continues to affect numerous American families in unexpected ways. The question remains whether Vivian will hold firm in her decision to leave the country.
