We’ve all grown up watching cartoons that depict cats and dogs as sworn enemies. These stories have convinced us that there’s an innate rivalry between these creatures. Science even supports this idea, stating that the animosity between canines and felines has existed for millions of years, long before they were domesticated. That’s why stories of friendships between cats and dogs hold a special place in our hearts.

Lane Dyer from Edmond, Oklahoma, is the proud owner of a 6-year-old Havanese dog named Oakley, and a black cat named Binx. Despite being “polar opposites,” Oakley and Binx have always gotten along well.

Recently, Binx proved just how great of a friend she is when she bravely saved Oakley from an unexpected coyote attack. Oakley had been let out of the house to use the bathroom when a wild coyote suddenly attacked her. Due to her small size, Oakley couldn’t defend herself and was overpowered by the coyote. As she fought to escape, another coyote joined in, leaving Oakley helpless. Thankfully, Binx witnessed the terrifying attack and took immediate action. She ran towards the wild animals, scaring them off and saving Oakley from harm.

Oakley suffered severe injuries from the attack, with blood gushing from her chest and a wounded leg. Vets worked hard to save her leg from amputation. After the incident, the family reviewed their security camera footage and discovered that it was indeed Binx who had come to the rescue.

In a video shared on social media, Dyer describes the incident as “the craziest thing ever.” Speaking to KFOR, Dyer expressed her inspiration from the event, saying, “It was inspiring to see our little outdoor cat jump at two coyotes that were attacking this little dog that she loves and run them off.”

While Oakley needed surgery to fully recover, she is grateful to have a loyal friend like Binx by her side. This incredible rescue story reminds us that even sworn enemies can become unlikely heroes when it truly matters.
