The world of news broadcasting is constantly evolving, and Albanian TV station Zjarr is no exception. In an attempt to provide a refreshing take on news reporting, they made a daring decision to hire a young journalist who presented the news braless. This move caused quite a stir in the traditionally conservative country of Albania, where about 60 percent of the population is Muslim. The decision sparked a heated debate on social media, with comments pouring in from both within and outside the country.
But despite the controversy, the unconventional approach proved to be a tremendous success. The owner of Zjarr TV, Ismet Drishti, explained that in a country where the news is often manipulated by political powers, the audience craved a medium that presented information transparently – just as it is. The nudity showcased by the journalist was not a means of selling sex, but rather a symbolic gesture of honesty and publicity.
Since its implementation in 2016, this concept has gained popularity, turning the young host, 21-year-old Enki Bracaj, into an overnight star in her homeland. While some viewers find her presentation style unconventional, it doesn’t appear to be affecting her viewer ratings at all. The TV station’s spokesperson assured the public that they are actively working on refining her style to better suit their audience’s preferences.
Interestingly, it was Enki herself who suggested the idea of presenting the news braless during her job interview, as she arrived with her blouse open. She believed that in order to succeed in the competitive industry, she needed to be brave and offer something different. Consulting with her parents and receiving their support made her decision easier.
Enki’s departure from Zjarr TV was surrounded by rumors of dissatisfaction with her salary. However, the truth was that the station felt that she had crossed the line by accepting a modeling gig for Playboy. Regardless, her replacement, 24-year-old Greta Hoxhaj, followed in Enki’s footsteps when it came to her appearance on the job.
Greta, who had previously worked hard for five years in local television without gaining much recognition, embraced the opportunity for change. Within three months of joining Zjarr TV, she became a star. She explained that her on-screen appearance was more provocative than her everyday style, allowing her to stand out and capture attention.
The Albanian newsreaders quickly gained traction on social media, with videos going viral and attracting a diverse range of opinions. Some viewers applauded the anchors for their bold approach, while others called for greater accountability and respect from the media. The heated conversation often touches upon the low necklines of women presenters on various shows and the need for higher standards in television.
Despite criticism from the President of the Union of Albanian Journalists, who argued that nudity cannot resolve the crisis in the media, Greta Hoxhaj remains unfazed. She prioritizes her personal well-being and is grateful for her success and newfound fame. To her, what matters most is living a beautiful life filled with love.
