On May 6th, Saturday, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son, King Charles III, was officially celebrated at Westminster Abbey, with the royal family dressed in their finest attire.

The much-awaited historic service concluded with a grand procession, where the family rode in an elaborate carriage to Buckingham Palace. As the institution gears up for tomorrow’s coronation concert, the event came to an end.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, arrived at Westminster Abbey in the company of their children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family made a striking appearance in their official royal robes for the traditional ceremony, with Kate donning a bright blue cape and white dress, while William wore a navy velvet robe over his uniform.

Prince Harry entered the church with a smile on his face, despite reported tensions with several family members. The Duke of Sussex, who had previously decided to step down from his royal duties in 2020, chose to wear a suit for the upscale event. During the service, he was seated in the third row near Princess Alexandra.

During the grand ceremony, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, officiated the coronation of King Charles III by carefully placing the 360-year-old St. Edward’s Crown, a bejeweled headdress, on the King’s head. This marked the pinnacle of the extravagant ceremony.

Prince Charles showed signs of emotion as Prince William kissed him on the cheek after his crowning. The heir to the throne then demonstrated his allegiance to his father by reciting the Homage of Royal Blood, swearing his loyalty to him.

“I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you, and I promise to be faithful and truthful to you, as your liege man of life and limb. So help me God,” he solemnly declared.

Following his coronation and robed during the service, King Charles III held two scepters.

King Charles III and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, rode together in the procession back to Buckingham Palace after the service. As they made their way through the streets, Charles appeared joyful as he looked out at the crowds that had gathered to witness his coronation. It was undoubtedly a momentous and historic day for the new king and his family, as well as for the entire nation.
